LIVE ONLINE CLASSES, SKILLS PRACTICE LABS & (NAR) ‘WORK for
CLINICAL HOURS’ PROCESS during the COVID PERIOD
Students must schedule an in-person visit PRIOR to the start of the session for which registered to complete the registration process, take an English placement quiz, have photo taken, and to pick up the training materials.
The school is offering live online theory and skills demonstration classes. Following online attendance to each of the (10) schedule classes over a period of three weeks the student will then be required to attend (4) skills practice labs in-person at the school in compliance with the required mandates regarding social distancing, the wearing of a face mask, the use of (PPE’s) personal protective equipment and answer questions regarding current health and have a touchless temperature taken upon entry to the school each day. Dark navy-blue scrubs also required.
To complete the (50) clinical training hours it is mandatory during the COVID pandemic period for the student to apply and obtain an (NAR) nursing assistant registration license and then become gainfully employed in a healthcare facility to complete the current Washington State ‘NAR work for 50 clinical training hours’ under the supervision of a facility nurse and to complete the required WA. State skills worksheet. The original worksheet along with documentation of dates and hours worked towards the clinical period are then provided to the school to obtain a certificate of completion for the program. This requirement will continue until Snohomish County, Washington is free from all government restrictions regarding the safe return to healthcare facilities.
Under the guidelines provided by Governor Inslee and the Department of Health-Nursing Commission the HIV/AIDS education part of theory has been waived to obtain the NAR license. And, although the student can apply at any time for both the NAR license and employment they must be an enrolled student of an NA training program and complete the minimum Federal hourly training requirement by attending the first (5) live online classes before having contact with residents in a healthcare setting.
