Student is required to have (2) criminal background inquiries submitted for clearance through 1) the Washington State Patrol and 2) DSHS (according to the nursing home code of the facility you will attend for the clinical internship portion of training.) A rejected background inquiry prevents attendance to do the clinical internship portion of the program.
Although we no longer offer TB skin testing at the school it is the students responsibility to obtain two skin tests or one Quantiferon Gold blood test to provide documentation to the school. A student is not able to go out into a facility to do clinical without this documentation. Note: The second skin test is needed to be done by the 21st day after the first test. If late then a third test would be required. Best to schedule all four visits to your physician or clinic so done within the correct time frame. The steps include: 1st visit to get the skin test done, 2nd visit in 2-3 days to have first test looked at, 3rd visit to receive second skin test and 4th visit to have second test looked at within 2-3 days. For the Quantiferon Gold blood test it would be one visit to have done and a second visit to have read.
Cancellations mandatory in person/in writing and according to all school policies.
